Otago University invites our college to participate in the Science Wānanga at Araiteuru Marae, for year 9-10 rangatahi Māori.
Dates: Monday 13th March 9am to Tuesday 14th March 2pm.
This is an overnight stay, with the days filled with hands-on sciences to inspire and spark interest of science to rangatahi Māori. Currently we can only cater up to 10 students per school, we might be able to cater more depending on schools attending.
I understand that this is short notice as it is a month away but I would like to let you know what to expect and/or what is required.
What to expect:
-Monday 13th March: pohiri at 9am. Day full of hands-on science with Mātuaranga Māori weaved throughout the day. In the evening we will have a chemistry activity before we finish up the day.
-Tuesday 14th March: Morning wrap-up and recap of sciences. Evaluations and whakamutnga process with kai and awards. Final clean up then finish at 2pm.
-Kai is provided throughout the Science Wānanga.
-University of Otago Scientist (kaipūtaiao) and Māori students (tuākana) will be running and providing all resources to run the science activities.
