Last Sunday seven Kavanagh College swimmers took part in the Otago Secondary Schools’ Swimming Championship held at Moana Pool. All swimmers performed well, qualifying for many finals. Competing swimmers were Nik Dohig, Meg Christophers, Megan Hanning, William Christophers, Erika Fairweather, Holly Uluakiola and Hannah Drew (absent from photograph).
The standout
performance in the Under 15 category was Erika Fairweather, winning five individual
events - 50m freestyle, 100m freestyle, 200m freestyle, 100m backstroke, 200m
medley and also came second in the 50m fly.
Holly Uluakiola also performed with distinction coming second in the 50m breaststroke and 200m breaststroke and third in the 100m breaststroke. Meg Christophers came third in the 50m backstroke.
With the girls relay team performing with credit against much older swim teams, the future looks bright for swimming at Kavanagh College.
