On 10 April, Kavanagh College was part of a group of Dunedin schools that officially joined 12 Princess Chulabhorn Science High Schools and the Chitralada School in Thailand to work together on future education projects.
Mr Read and Principals of six Dunedin secondary schools met with their Thai counterparts, the Deputy Secretary-General of the Thai Ministry of Education Office of the Basic Education Commission and Enterprise Dunedin to formalise their relationship. This may result in student exchanges, opportunities for teacher professional development and joint classes.
Khawfang Khonkam and Pamela Sayamnet (both 11PIC) are students from these Thai schools and they have studied at Kavanagh for the past two months. The girls were part of an initial group of eight students to Dunedin who were studying at Bayfield High School, Otago Boys' High School, Otago Girls' High School, Queen's High School and Taieri College. Both girls have had a great time at Kavanagh and we have been very impressed with their attitude and willingness to become part of our school.
We wish Pam and Khawfang all the best for their return home to Thailand next week and hope that they keep in touch!
