Course Outline
The course builds on material covered in Year 9, 10, 11 and 12 and through listening, speaking, reading and writing activities encourages communicative competence in:
- a prepared speech, conversation and writing, internally assessed
- listening and reading comprehension, externally assessed

Where Does It Lead
Tertiary study of French.
Further development of ability to interact with native speakers and of capacity to learn other languages.
New Zealand universities, including Otago, have extensive exchange opportunities with universities in France. Courses are often in English, but French is essential for daily living.
Tertiary study in conjunction with degrees and diplomas in international marketing, law, tourism and hospitality, engineering, politics, viticulture and many other areas.
