Course Outline

A range of themes are integrated into this course and students will practise listening, speaking, reading and writing Māori within these contexts. They cover numerous aspects of everyday life including ngā runaruna (hobbies), ngā hākinakina (sports), kai (food) and tāngata rongonui (famous people). In keeping with Māori tradition, students will explore the concepts of tūrangawaewae (place of origin), as well as Māori protocols and issues surrounding technology and oranga (wellbeing).
