Course Outline
A range of History topics are studied as the following basic skills are learned and put into practice:
Basic Skills:
- Information Gathering
- Information Processing
- Presentation of Information
- Critical Thinking
- Analysis of Information
Topics:
- My Lai Massacre
- Invasion of Parihaka
- Students are able to choose their own history topics to study for standards 91434 and 91435. Examples of topics chosen include - The Stolen Generation, specific battles within WW1 and WW2, Samoan Independence, Korean War, Hiroshima and Nagasaki and many more that students are interested in.

AS 91434 - Plan and carry out an independent historical research of a historical event or place, of significance to New Zealanders 5 credits
AS 91437 - Analyse different perspectives on a contested event of significance to New Zealanders 5 credits
AS 91435 - Analyse a historical event, or place, to show understanding of its significance to New Zealanders 5 credits
