Entry Requirement
Highly recommended 14 credits from L2 Design and Visual Communication or HOD approval must be gained if minimum of 14 credits at level 2 not attained.
Cost
Students will be responsible for the purchase of all equipment and additional drawing paper throughout the year as they require it.
Basic modelling and display materials will be provided.
Students can expect additional charges where specific requests for card, paper, and colour copying or other materials are made.
Course Outline
The course provides a variety of challenging and creative opportunities for students who are keen on design and drawing. Students develop design knowledge and skill in drawing through two learning modules:
- Spatial Design - Architectural, Landscape Architecture and interior design
- Product Design.
Emphasis is on client based design problems, design, design principles and technological problem-solving. Various techniques will be encouraged including two and three-dimensional drawing, computer aided design, 3D model making and the use of a range of illustrative and presentation media.
Assessment
Students will present all evidence for assessment in a portfolio format. Student evidence for external, including Scholarship, assessment will be drawn from the portfolio work presented for internal assessments throughout the year.

AS 91628 - Develop a visual presentation that exhibits a design outcome to an audience - 6 credits
AS 91629 - Resolve a spatial design through graphics practice - 6 credits
AS 91630 - Resolve a product design through graphics practice - 6 credits
Externals
AS 91627 - Initiate design ideas through exploration - 4 credits
Optional:
AS 91631 - Produce working drawings to communicate production details for a complex design - 6 credits
