Entry Requirement

14 credits from either L1 Textile Design or L2 Textile Design

HOD approval requested where students can demonstrate appropriate prior experience.

A strong desire to be creative and innovative in the design and making of products in a practical environment.

Cost

$30. In the development of design solutions, students will be encouraged to manufacture products with a high quality take home value.

Students will provide their own materials for practical projects, eg patterns, fabrics etc...

Course Outline

This course is mostly assessed internally and aims to develop creative and manipulative skills through the design and construction of garments. Students will develop their skills in the selection of fabrics, research, construction and problem-solving to a tertiary level.

AS 91623 - Implement complex procedures to create an applied design    4 credits

AS 91621 - Implement complex procedures using textile materials to make a specified product    6 credits

AS 91611 - Develop a prototype considering fitness for purpose 6 credits

Externals 

AS 91613 - Demonstrate understanding of material development    4 credits
