Principal's Message

This week the Year 8s have been out on the annual camp down at Gore and it sounds as though it's been a huge success. Thanks so much to our parent volunteers as well as our staff team led by Mr Campbell who also give up a considerable amount of personal time to ensure these out of school experiences can continue to run. 

Year 7's have been on marae visits which is a valuable part of our program to ensure all students can experience and also contribute to this cultural environment as well as building cultural understanding and tolerance. Thanks again to our key teachers here and the leadership of Matua Lucas in the Maori department.

Congratulations to our teachers Sarah Tsukigawa and Kathleen O'Kane who have been selected to key leadership roles in our Kahui Ako Catholic Community of Learning which will commence next year. We are hoping the Ministry will soon confirm our achievement challenges and we can be ready to hit the ground running at the start of the year. It has been great to work and share as a Catholic school community in the planning phases of this.

Overall enrolments for 2018 are looking very sound. Timetable and staffing are coming together well with the addition of Agri-business starting as a new subject in Year12. 

As we continue our run to the end of the year we have all been refocussed this week as we remember the recent loss of former staff members and the illness of our dear colleague Lyn Osten. 

Although the comings and goings of busy College life go on, let us remember at this time to appreciate and support each other. 

Overall the students have been very mindful and working positively in all their tasks and end of year assessments-well done!
