Tenpin Bowling Tournament

Five fabulous students from Trinity Catholic College had the wonderful opportunity to participate in the Special Olympics Have A Go Day.
The event was a tenpin bowling tournament, organised by Sports Otago Special Olympics. Monty Robertson, Lily McCabe, Krystal-Lee Boyd, Edward Ritchie and Jade Boyd participate in an Adaptive Sports program each Wednesday. In this program the students participate in various sports alongside peers from other secondary schools. Each week it’s a lot of fun and definitely a lot of new skills and friendships are made.
Today’s tournament saw the five students play two games of tenpin. The students showed superb sportsmanship and some really impressive skills. Monty was full of energy and made Trinity proud with a wonderful strike. Krystal-Lee was extremely focused on her game and had an amazing strength behind her bowl. Krystal-Lee was our second student to get a strike. Lily had a never give up attitude. Her skills to take out numerous spares was outstanding. Jade had amazing spin and power on her bowl. She also gave the team plenty of giggles. The second game was almost finished and out of nowhere Jade was successful at a third strike for Trinity. Edward was the master of cool. He started the tournament off with the ball assist then by the end of his games he was bowling the ball like a professional.
Jacob Brown and myself had the great pleasure of assisting these wonderful students to the tournament. It was a privilege to attend and observe. I feel this event taught us all that having a go is a fun way to learn, socialise and get some physical activity too.
Thank you to Monty, Lily, Krystal-Lee, Jade and Edward. I am extremely proud of you all.
