Top sports performances

Kavanagh students have been performing well in sports outside of school.
Congratulations to Bella Wadsworth who has recently been awarded the Otago/Southland Championship award for her age - Top Female Racer in Otago/Southland for age 14. Both Bella and her brother Jacob were part of the Mainland South (Highlanders) BMX race team to take on Canterbury. Bella was named Co-Captain of the team. Both Bella and Jacob are now off to BMX NZ Nationals on the 8th of April where they will race the best in New Zealand. Jacob will also trial for the New Zealand Team. If successful he will travel to and race against, the Australian team in June.
Erika Fairweather has recently returned from the New Zealand Age Group Swimming Championships. She earned seven gold and two silver medals and finished as the dominant freestyle swimmer of her age group, winning gold in the 100m (Otago Record), 200m (Otago and NZ Record), 400m (Otago Record) and 800m (Otago Record), and silver in the 50m (Otago Record). Her other silver came in the 200m butterfly (Otago Record). She also won golds in the 200m and 400m IM (both Otago Records) and 200m backstroke (Otago Record). Erika was named top overall female at the meet.
Mitchell Scott won a Junior Fours Bowls tournament in late March, giving his a Dunedin centre title. This means he is one of the top bowlers for juniors in Dunedin.
