Principal's Message

Dia Dhuit (Greetings)
Happy St Patrick’s Day! It is good to have a few reasons to celebrate and have some fun at the moment.
One celebration that I describe as an educator’s dream, was our Academic Blues Ceremony yesterday. Although we had many students absent, it was special to acknowledge our excellence endorsed students and our centurions (gaining more than 100 excellence credits in one calendar year) with their peers yesterday during our ceremony. We look forward to re-instating our original ceremony plans in term two so we can acknowledge our 2021 leavers and have whānau share in this recognition.
I have sent out an email to all parents today regarding covid planning for next week. Our numbers are growing and it is time for a reset for staff, students and their learning and we will take advantage of a shortened week. It is important that students realise that being at home for isolation purposes and they are well, means they are expected to be engaging with online learning at the same rate as if they are at school. If for some reason this is not possible within the household, the dean needs to know this.
Similarly, please keep the communication up with the office and with the organisers of extra-curricular activities. It is difficult for the sports staff to make a decision to play or default if they are unsure of who is available.
I have included today, a well-known prayer attributed to St Patrick.
Enjoy the long weekend. I hope it is a chance to recharge and enjoy the company of whānau and friends.
