Kia ora tātou
We have had to make some difficult decisions this week regarding our awards ceremonies. While we have spent much time trying to find ways to manage our various ceremonies this year, we are bound by the education guidelines at Covid Level 2 that restricts our operations. Unfortunately, we will need to limit our ceremonies to recipients only this year and livestream the event instead. We had a successful practice with the Sports Awards yesterday and we were pleased with our first run through of our new model – and we know that practice will make perfect! There will be more specific information come to you via email within the next week.
Congratulations to our Young Enterprise Group and their attentive and enthusiastic teacher, Jill Armstrong, who have had their hard work and commitment rewarded with a win at the regional competition for ‘Under the Door Enterprises’. We now look forward to an exciting final in December. Well done!
Our Sports Awards held yesterday, while it wasn’t the new and refreshed event we had planned, was a special moment for our athletes who have battled various sports modifications, cancellations and postponements this year. Congratulations to all who received awards. I hope they continue to enjoy the competitive and important social side of sporting endeavours. The development of important social and self management skills in both cultural and sporting activites cannot be underestimated and contribute to a well-rounded young person able to take on other challenges they come across.
Please continue to keep in your prayers those in our college community who have family in Auckland and other parts of New Zealand where lockdowns continue. We pray for wisdom for our political leaders and that God’s care and protection is with our communities.
