A word from our Special Character Prefects

Hi everyone
This Sunday at St Peter Chanel Church in Green Island we will be having a Youth Mass. This is a Mass that encourages young people to connect with a local parish community, and it is an opportunity for young people to be involved with our church. I hope to see some of you there and hopefully you will stay for a sweet treat afterward!
Today the Junior Young Vinnies Group had a winter clothing collection. The goal was to gather lots of warm winter clothing to give to St Vincent de Paul. During the colder seasons, we try our best to assist those in need. St Vincent de Paul are able to provide these clothes to those who need them. It was awesome to see so many people giving what they can, and for those who forgot today, donations are still being accepted tomorrow. Just drop them outside the common room or directly to myself (Charlotte Harris). Thank you to all those who contributed. Our Junior Young Vinnies group did an amazing job organizing this collection, well-done guys!
This month is the Month of the Sacred Heart. The Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Christ is celebrated twice every liturgical year. Once on the Feast of the Sacred Heart which is the third Friday after Pentecost, and then once again on October 16th on the feast day of St. Margaret Mary Alacoque. She was a French Catholic Visitation nun who promoted devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus in its modern form. One night, after returning home from a ball, she experienced a vision of Christ, scourged and bloody. He reproached her for her forgetfulness of him, yet he also reassured her by demonstrating that his heart was filled with love for her. She is the Saint who promoted devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus Christ which has spread across the world.
The Heart itself is the symbolic center of feeling and emotion, and it represents Jesus’ deep love and affection for us. It is sometimes shown by itself, but often with an image of Jesus, and then above his chest. Most frequently it is depicted as red, the color of blood, which Jesus poured out for us (Jn 19:34).
Prayer
O most holy heart of Jesus,
fountain of every blessing,
I adore you, I love you,
and with lively sorrow for my sins,
I offer you this poor heart of mine.
Make me humble, patient, pure,
and wholly obedient to your will.
Grant, good Jesus,
that I may live in you and for you.
Amen
Wishing everyone a safe and happy weekend!
