Students getting ready for Advent

Last Sunday we celebrated the Solemnity of Christ the King which signals the end of the Liturgical Year for the Catholic Church. So this week should be a week of celebrating God who brought salvation to his people. With the ending of this Liturgical Year we prayerfully look to the future as we are called to be "Pilgrims of Hope" by Pope Francis.

One way to focus us is through prayer and through the making of Advent Wreaths! The circle helps us to contemplate on the eternity of our divine creator, plants and decoration help us to reflect on the gift of creation and joy, the purple candles reminds us of Christ's majesty and it also reminds us to prepare our hearts again for arrival of Christ at Christmas. The pink candle is lit on the 3rd Sunday of Advent representing the Joy of anticipation as after that week, we only have one more week to celebrate the birth of Jesus with is sometimes represented by a while candle in the middle. The four candles represent the 4 weeks of the Advent Season as well as Faith, Hope, Joy and Love.
