Principal's Message

Talofa lava. Greetings again to the Kavanagh Community.
Congratulations to all students who were recognised at the Year 9 and 10 Sports Awards held yesterday. There were a number of stunning performances throughout the year. Special mention to Erika Fairweather who was again named the Year 9 & 10 Sportsperson of the Year award after an exceptional year of swimming successes.
The annual Year 8 camp begins next week. Thanks to all the parents and helpers for volunteering their time and the Year 8 teachers and leaders for the great organisation. Taking students out is more than just an end of year trip to fill in some time. The camps are highly structured and it is good to see students engage with each other in different settings and get outside their comfort zones.
Later in the month Year 7s will be involved in marae visits which are educationally very valuable learning opportunities to explore our own Maori customs (tikanga), language and culture.
As always thank you all for your strong support. Let's keep those less fortunate in our prayers and may we have grateful hearts for all we have and take for granted.
