A Message from our Principal

Kia ora, Talofa lava, Malo e leilei, Greetings

It was special to be part of our senior prizegiving at Trinity Catholic College last night. I know it will have been very special for many of you as parents to watch your children cross the stage – many of them for the last time. A huge congratulations must go to Elijah Booth and Christian Mullens who were awarded Co-Dux for 2024.

At our final full school assembly on Tuesday afternoon, it was my pleasure to announce our head student team for 2025 – Nuala Kelly and Grzegorz Twardowski (Head Students); and Brent Manangan and Lucy Irvine (Deputy Head Students). Meadow Stewart will be part of the Student Leadership Team as Special Character Prefect, with one more to be appointed to make up the team of six to lead the student body next year. I wish these students congratulations and all the best as they take on the significant responsibility that their positions bring.

During this period of exams, prizegivings and awards, it was timely to remember the importance of being resilient. After much preparation and hard work, whether for special roles or for an important exam or team selection, it is easy for us to get caught up in our own feelings and the impact on us as individuals when things don’t go our way. However, throughout our faith-based education at Trinity, we talk about ensuring that we treat others with compassion and respect. In times of personal success or failure, it is important for our young people to remember that there are usually others in the equation, and it is a time to walk the talk by being gracious in our moment of success or failure and remembering to show compassion to those who didn’t experience success or, conversely, showing joy when they do.

We now look forward to a special few weeks spent with our year 7-10 learners. Even though about one-third of the school has headed away on exam leave, the younger students soon spread out to fill all the space and keep us busy for the remainder of the term!  There is plenty happening this term, so keeping an eye on the school calendar on the website will be important.

As we move into November, with All Saints and All Souls Days to begin the month, we pray for all those who have gone before us and whose lives and faith we remember at this time and always.

Eternal rest grant to them O Lord and may perpetual light shine upon them. May they Rest in Peace.

Warmest regards,

Kate Nicholson
