For the second year in a row, Kavanagh College students were ecstatic to be placed second in the Bishop Shield Catholic Schools Public Speaking Competition.
The senior debating team has been battling for the top debating team title for three years. Not only did they gain this, Jacob Reeve received Best Leader in Senior Debates and Anna Roberts was awarded Best Speaker in Senior Debates. Go KDC!
The Kavanagh Drama teams did exceeding well also. The senior drama group won first place in their competition and Sophie Whibley gained the Most Promising Senior Dramatic Performance trophy. On top of this, the junior drama group placed second in their event.
Other accolades include Ella Woods who was awarded second place for the Senior Scripture Question section. Furthermore, St Kevin's, St Peter's and Verdon College all commented on how impressed they were with the support and guidence Kavanagh College students exhibited over the busy weekend.
Many thanks to all our wonderful head students, culture perfects, volunteers and performers for making the Bishop Shield weekend such a triumphant weekend. Next year, we look forward to celebrating the 75th anniversary of Bishop's Shield at Saint Peter's in Gore and hopefully, we will be bringing home the shield!
