SOUTH ISLAND U15 RUGBY TOURNAMENT OAMARU

In week six of this term, Kavanagh College will be attending the Rural Livestock South Island U15 tournament.
This annual event has been running for over a decade and attracts co-educational secondary schools from all over Te Wai Pounamu. Rebuilding rugby at the college has begun in earnest with the formation of the Rugby Committee and the commitment to compete in the annual U15 tournament starting this year. Staff, parents and volunteers have been busy behind the scenes to make this event a success. Keen rugby man and Kavanagh College Chaplain Fr Vaughan Hook is "absolutely fizzing" and will be travelling to Oamaru to support the team.
Staff member Morgan Walker and old boys Taylor Baughan and Sam Beckwith (Class of 2020) form the coaching team, There has been generous support from many people including School Board member, Chris Burke, who has sponsored a team set of hoodies for this event. The team will be staying in Oamaru for the three-day tournament and will be play Darfield High School and James Hargest College on the Monday. On Tuesday morning we lock horns with Dunstan High School and then move into the play-offs. The team will return to Dunedin on Wednesday afternoon.
Next week the boys will play Kaikorai Valley College in a pre-tournament fixture. The team: Ravija Alakahoon, Jack Be, James Black, Angus Bell, Elijah Booth, Danny Botting, Joseph Brennan, Harri Brown, Alex Forbes, Lewis Green-Brough, James Hanning, Te Wero Haua-Bartlett, Ryan Leng-Ung, Luanga Muasika, Nick Paul, Jordy Sherriff, Jayden Steenkamp, Angus Tait, Isaac Tili, Filipe Vaka'uta and AJ Walker.
