Talofa Lava, Kia ora, Greetings
This week we had our "Meet the Teachers" evening for parents and families of Year 7-9 students. An excellent turn out judging by the number of snags rolling off the BBQ! Thanks to our senior students for running the hospitality. Overall classes are settling nicely. Thank you, parents, for having the students so well turned out in uniform and learning ready. It certainly helps things get off to the best possible start. The new students are settling in superbly.
2017 NCEA Results: Once again we had some superb results in NCEA culminating in the final exams at the end of 2017. At Level 1 the Year 11 cohort achieved a pass rate of 90%! This was accompanied with 64% of these passes being either at Merit or Excellence. Results at Levels 2 and 3 were also very strong with excellence passes at Level 2 at just under 30% (nearly twice the national average) and 22% excellence at Level 3-our best result in the last 10 years! Congratulations to all of our students and staff for their sterling work last year.
Congratulations to all of our student House leaders and prefects who were commissioned at our first school mass last Friday. It was great to see so many whanau/family members supporting them. It is a privilege to be able to work with such outstanding young people who give so much to their school. As our senior leaders I'm sure Nick, Therese, Lilly and Soni will be outstanding ambassadors and servant leaders of Kavanagh College and the community.
Ephesians 4: 11-14 So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.
God Bless
