A Message from our Principal

At Trinity, we believe that every student is uniquely gifted and talented. We know that part of our job as a Catholic college is holistic education, therefore we constantly endeavour to provide an environment that fosters the development of these gifts and talents and allows our students to thrive and discover their full potential. Our value of service is forefront in this environment, and we encourage our young people to share their gifts and talents for the benefit of those around them, through service. Many schools have excellence as a school value and of course they should – it is what every school wants for their rangatahi. I believe that true excellence needs to be accompanied by integrity. By this I mean that true excellence is a result of self-awareness, commitment, selflessness and respect for those walking alongside, in front and behind.
At this time of year, when camps and programmes round off the year, we often see gifts and talents come to the fore. I have heard wonderful reports from the Year 8 Camp at Camp Columba in Pukerau last week. Excellence in behaviour, manners, attitude and achievement were evident. Taking risks using the adventure equipment meant some children tested themselves beyond their comfort zone and achieved new-found skills and confidence.
Next week is the annual Christmas Pantomime Week. I am looking forward to watching some of the youngest members of our college performing and helping out behind the scenes. Well done for getting involved and using your gifts and talents.
I enjoyed the opportunity to acknowledge those year 8 students who received scholarships yesterday, which acknowledge excellence through the use of gifts and talents, using our college values in daily life, committing to hard work to use their talents fully, and serving others through their God-given gifts. I also wish to acknowledge the parents who work hard to give these young ones the opportunities they make the most of.
Matthew 5:15 “Nor do they light a lamp and then put it under a bushel basket;
it is seton a lampstand, where it gives light to all in the house.”
Have a wonderful weekend.
Ngā mihi nui,
