The Year 12 and Year 13 PE classes recently came together for an exciting inter-sport tournament that highlighted their skills and built strong connections.

The Year 12 and Year 13 Physical Education classes came together for an inter-sport tournament, designed to showcase their turbo touch skills and assess their self-responsibility across two achievement standards.

The event celebrated their hard work throughout the year but also provided an opportunity to foster inter-year relationships.

The tournament featured a range of sports, including turbo touch, netball, football, and dodgeball, allowing students to demonstrate their skills and teamwork. Attendance was good across both classes and students had a positive attitude, showing perseverance, grit, and determination throughout the games.

The Year 13 PE class ended up victorious, however the Year 12 students put up a strong fight. The tournament aligned with Māori values such as tuakana teina (older siblings guiding younger ones), whakawhanaungatanga (relationships), and kotahitanga (unity).

Students lived our school values of respect, service, justice, and truth. They respected one another as competitors, served as role models for their peers, displayed fairness in play, and upheld the integrity of the games.

The event summarised the learning experiences of the year, promoting soft skills such as communication, teamwork, and self-discipline. It was a fantastic platform for students to apply their skills in a supportive environment, reinforcing the significance of collaboration and sportsmanship.

To conclude the day, students shared kai. The success of this tournament underscores the value of such events in enhancing the overall educational experience and building a strong, interconnected school community.

Thanks to everyone involved and those that helped to make it happen!
