Open Day Afternoon Tea
Thank you to those who donated baking/food for the afternoon tea on Open Day last month and those who helped out on the day. It was wonderful to see so many people coming to have a look at Kavanagh and what the school has to offer.
Working Bee – Sunday October 18 starting at 2pm
The PFA is running a Working Bee next term to tidy the garden surrounding the Kavanagh College carpark on Rattray Street (opposite the main entrance to the school office). This will also be a fundraiser for the PFA as the owners of the carpark are going to pay us for this work. All money raised by the PFA is used for projects and resources that benefit the students.
For the Working Bee we will need volunteers to help with the following activities:
· Weeding
· Trimming and shaping of shrubbery
· Removal of bushes (e.g. broom and gorse)
Please bring any gardening tools that you may have such as hand trowels, weeding tools, trimmers, loppers, secateurs, wheelbarrows, spades, rakes, outdoor brooms, garden sacks/wool bales and gardening gloves.
In addition, we will need a couple of trailers for transporting garden waste to the tip.
If you are keen to be involved in the Working Bee, then please email Rebecca Meikle (meiklerm@gmail.com). Students are also very welcome to come and help. Afternoon tea will be provided. Thanks for your support!
New Purchases for the School
The PFA recently decided to fund the following items for the school:
· Outdoor basketball backboard and hoop
· New notice board for the PE changing room foyer
· New notice board for the Science block foyer
· 5 Chromebooks for student use
· Tents for school camps and tramping trips
