Tena Koutou Katoa.
Last night the Year 7 and 8 Kapa Haka performed at the Maori and Polynesian festival. They were magnificent and well presented. Well done students! You made us very proud.
Thanks to our senior student leaders for their great work tutoring and, of course, our teachers including Mr Tony Pickles and Matua Lucas. On Monday night it was also a treat to watch our students perform alongside others in the annual Otago Secondary Schools Chamber Music Festival at the Town Hall. It really was a great showcase and celebration of music. Former Kavanagh student Kylie Price did a great job as MC and once again Georgie Watts, our HOD Music, got to exhibit her awesome conducting skills. Nice work all round.
Currently, staff are working hard and busy finalising end of term and year reports for seniors. We are also having a close look at students who are not quite where they should be academically putting some interventions in place. Students are also looking at their senior options for next year. We are trying to revamp some of our curriculum offerings in 2018 to allow greater flexibility for students as well as making sure they remain engaged and courses are relevant to future opportunities and success. If needed please contact your relevant Dean or our Careers Department for advice and guidance.
Across the school there has been a lot on but overall things are tracking well in all areas for a successful term and lifting us all into the final stage of the year.
Enrolments are looking very positive for 2018. As always thank you for your support in spreading the good news about out great students and College.
Nga mihi tatou te whanau o Kawana.
