Kavanagh Combo Triumph

The Kavanagh College small jazz combo triumphed at last weeks Dunedin Youth Jazz Music Competition.
The Combo - comprising of Blake MacDade on drums, Meihana Kewene-Masina on bass, Emily Kerr-Bell on guitar, Tobias Devereux on piano, Sebastian Hook on trombone, Oliver Meikle on tenor saxophone, Sam Meikle on alto saxophone, and Michaela Jensen on Flute.
They played two tracks, Atchafalaya by Snarky Puppy, and The Bare Necessities. Ollie Meikle took the Outstanding Performer award, and Michaela Jensen and Sebastian Hook received Most Promising musician awards.
They have been rehearsing since the start of the year, VERY early on Tuesday mornings, and these early mornings and dedication paid off.
