Social Justice Day

By Laurel Lanner | Posted: Wednesday September 19, 2018

Friday, 28th September

On the last Friday of term, we will be holding a Social Justice Day when we think about those less fortunate than ourselves and give money to support them. “Wear to Care” money will also be supporting the Dunedin branches of St Vincent de Paul and Catholic Social Services.

There will be two key events taking place.

1. “Wear to Care” – Supporting “S.V.D.P.”

· Wear no label/low cost clothing.

· Students, bring a $2 coin or more, of your own money, to tutor time for the mufti day on Friday.
(Parents, this is an excellent opportunity for students to give their own money.)

How lucky are we??!! Choosing your clothes for this mufti day makes you think about what you’ve got. Wearing your worst stuff makes you think a tiny bit about what it might be like for millions of people around the world who have nothing else. Please don’t go buying trendy 2nd hand clothing as that defeats the purpose. Wear the least fashionable clothes which you already have at home. This year as we are having a house competition please wear house colours if you can.

2.  “Cans for St Vincent de Paul” - Bring a can for the can trail - all donations for SVDP should be directed to the area between the canteen and the gates for a House tally up at lunchtime.
