Junior Volleyball Roundup

Junior Volleyball has had a fantastic start to 2025. In years 9 and 10 we have 8 volleyball teams playing in the top 2 divisions. 2 boys tems and 6 girls teams.
Both of our boys teams were evenly mixed. These teams are coached by Amelia Bresanello and members of our senior boys volleyball team. The focus for our junior boys was on development of skills across both teams in preparation for tournaments and team selections in term 4. To have 2 teams competing in division 1 is incredible. To have a focus on development and not just concentrating on the elite players is a mark of the commitment that the junior boys program has to player development. We are excited to see what these boys can achieve in term 4.
In junior girls volleyball we have 3 teams competing in Division 1. 2 Year 10 teams and 1 Year 9 team. At the end of the round robin games our Year 10 Red team were seeded in the top 10. This team was coached by Graham Henderson. Our Year 10 Blue were seeded 1 and our Year 9 team was tied for 4th on points. Our Year 9 girls team was the highest ranked year 9 team in Otago! Our 3 year 9 teams are coached by Hamish Sutherland and Deirdre Brown.
However, special mention must go to our Year 10 Blue girls. Coached by Molly Kirk and Paige Clark who are Yr 12 girls from our Senior A Volleyball team. Finishing the regular season unbeaten they won their semi final against Columba 10A in straight sets. This set up a showdown of the 2 teams who were unbeaten throughout the season. Trinity 10 Blue vs Queens Junior A. In the final, all of the skills and progress shown at training were put out on the court in a powerful display of teamwork and skill. Our Year 10 Blue girls won the final 2 - 0 taking out the Division 1 competition. Well done to the coaches and all of the players for a great start to 2025.
A massive thank you to all of the parents and coaches who have supported Junior Volleyball in term 1. You are all amazing!
