Kāhui Ako Day
By Staff | Posted: Wednesday June 8, 2022
On Friday 3 June all staff from our Dunedin Catholic schools visited the Araiteuru Marae for a day of learning about Te Reo and Tikanga Māori
After we were welcomed onto the Marae with a Pōwhiri (welcome) we were challenged by keynote speaker Anton Blank who spoke about unconscious bias and racism.
The rest of the morning was spent enjoying workshops and was a great gathering of learning. The workshops were:
- Aotearoa New Zealand Histories
- Local History
- P.E. games
- Weaving
To close the day we celebrated the first Te Reo Miha with Father Gerard.
Using Araiteuru Marae as a special base for our learning, it was amazing being able to meet in these uncertain times and develop our skills in cultural competencies.
