The Year 12 Physical Education class has improved their netball skills and fitness through diverse training methods, principles, and some psychology techniques over the past few weeks.
In a dynamic eight-week endeavour, the Year 12 Physical Education class have worked hard to refine and improve their netball skills and netball fitness through the application of diverse training methods, principles of training, and sport psychology techniques.
Throughout the program, they embraced continuous, resistance, and high-intensity interval training techniques, while applying training principles like specificity, overload, progression, and reversibility to design personalised programs.
The students explored strength workouts at BFT and immersed themselves in an inferno Hot Pilates session at Hot Yoga Dunedin, gaining a broader perspective on fitness.
This unit wrapped up with a netball tournament where their skills and teamwork were showcased. The Mystics team claimed victory over the Pulse in a well fought game. Students will complete self and peer, assessments of their netball skills to complement the teacher assessment.
They are also reflecting on how and why the biophysical principles in their training program impacted their netball in a separate written assessment.
Overall, the Year 12 PE class were very dedicated and engaged throughout this topic. Ka pai!
