Full School Caritas Solidarity Day - 7th May

During Week Two next term, the full school are engaging in a solidarity day along with our Catholic Primary Schools where we will experience limited food and electricity for the day.
Caritas Aotearoa New Zealand has focused on raising awareness and money for the country of South Sudan this year. Many of our junior classes have looked in depth at the country of South Sudan and now have a better understanding of how bad the situation is there. Therefore, it is the focus for this years Caritas Challenge.
This year, along with all our Catholic Primary Schools, we will be having a day with limited electricity in classes (no lights, heaters, machinery, devices, canteen etc) and a limited amount for morning tea and lunch.
We are asking that on the 7th May, (Tuesday, Week 2) next term, students bring a limited bread or rice based lunch with little flavour and don't bring their devices including cellphones to school with them. The canteen will be available to supply bread or rice to students as well. Our Social Justice and Service prefects have come up with the ideas around this initiative and we see it as a great way for the students to encourage other students to think of others.
