The annual Year 10 Market Day was again a wonderful success for our Trinity Catholic College Students and Staff.
Year 10 Economics annual market day
Year 10 Economics students demonstrated their entrepreneurial skills and teamwork at the annual Market Day event. This exciting hands-on activity allowed students to apply what they've learned in class, working in teams to plan, create, and sell their products to the school community.
Leading up to the event, students spent weeks brainstorming innovative ideas, developing business plans, and managing budgets. Each group was responsible not only for producing its goods but also for marketing them effectively, setting prices, and handling sales on the day of the event.
Market Day was a true test of the students' ability to work as a team, apply financial literacy concepts, and think strategically under real-world conditions. Throughout the event, students faced challenges like competition from other stalls and adjusting their strategies to attract customers. Despite these obstacles, all teams performed exceptionally well, showing resilience and adaptability.
One of the event's highlights was witnessing the students' enthusiasm and engagement as they implemented their ideas. The energy was palpable, and the school playground was buzzing with activity as students proudly promoted their products to peers and staff. Several teams sold out of their stock early, while others quickly adapted their sales tactics to meet customer demand.
A big shout out to the staff and senior prefects who volunteered to be soaked with buckets of cold water. All for a good cause - Motor Neurone Disease NZ is the charity this year.
Beyond the day's fun, Market Day gave our students a valuable opportunity to understand the fundamentals of supply and demand, marketing, and the challenges of running a small business. It also encouraged them to think critically about their product choices, pricing strategies, and the importance of customer engagement.
Overall, the event was a tremendous success, and the Year 10 Economics students should be proud of their hard work and achievements. We look forward to seeing how they apply these valuable skills in the future and how this experience will inspire them in their ongoing studies. Well done to everyone involved!
