State Changes & Sublimation: Year 9 Learning

Students learning about state change and sublimation in science.

Year 9 students had a great time consolidating their learning on state changes and sublimation, with experiments conducted by Mrs Thompson and Ms. Cooney using dry ice. Dry Ice quickly changed from solid to gas with the addition of warm water. Gas, not water, flowed over willing participants' heads, in a 'trust' exercise, including Mrs Tili's!

Dry Ice was sealed in bags which burst after a build up of CO2 released by the solid as it warmed. It was great to see this process up close and personal.

Thank you to our wonderful teachers for your efforts to make learning fun for our ākonga!
