Principal's Message

Mrs Paula Stewart and Ms Sharon McKay have been teaching at Kavanagh since the year 2000 and have contributed so much to our community. Generations of students have gone through Kavanagh during their tenure and I know they are remembered very fondly by so many. Mr Dave Eathorne will retire from his caretaker position early in 2020. Dave quietly goes about his work and much of what he does goes unnoticed. His extra contributions to the school are truly appreciated, including the beautiful Christmas decorations we currently have in the office area, all made by Dave in his spare time. On behalf of the students and staff who have known and worked with all of you during the last 30 years, thank you for your unwavering commitment to our college.

I also take the opportunity to farewell and thank Mrs Antonia Mbizvo who has been teaching Social Studies and Te Reo part time in our college for the last two years. Antonia is leaving to join the Kaikorai Valley College staff in 2020 and we wish her well in her new venture. 

I would like to thank all our staff especially those who stepped up and stepped in to teach classes this year and fill various positions in the wake of Mr O’Brien’s passing, and the various shuffles that needed to occur during what has been an unsettled and upsetting year for staff and students. Thank you all for your support and generosity to Kavanagh College and its wider community. It has been a tough year and one we are pleased to close the pages on, however the memories will continue to strengthen the college as we begin a new chapter in 2020.

We wish all our families, students and wider Kavanagh community the very best wishes for a blessed, safe and fun-filled Christmas holiday.
