ST BRIGID'S SCHOOL VISIT

Tēnā tātou - Greetings everyone

Yesterday Kavanagh College hosted our whānau from the Tainui area of Ōtepoti/Dunedin, St Brigid's School. The cheerful students were accompanied by Year 5 & 6 kaiako, Mrs Emily Gillan.

After a warm welcome from our tūmuaki, Mrs Nicholson, the students got stuck into the digital technology challenge which involved a collaborative Minecraft project. Year 6 students Lola Tiatia and Isla Bell worked together and created a beautiful wharenui (meeting house) that included a taniwha kaitiaki or guardian! Just after 10am the students joined a Year Eight class, 8TAU, for a high-energy Physical Education lesson in the Christian Brothers' Gymnasium with HOD, Mr Harris.

As always canteen manager, Mrs Sharon Cowie (and her team) provided a delicious pizza lunch for the students. After kai o te ahiahi (lunch), the students made their way to the new science laboratories and were taught by HOD Mrs Thomson for the afternoon learning session.

A big thank you to Year 10 helpers (and former St Brigid's students) Isadora Maclean, Jessie Henry, Sophie and Lachlan Bracegirdle and Year 12 student Jacob Green-Brough. Thanks also to Mr Harris, Mrs Bresanello and Mr Taukamo for their support yesterday.

In week eight we welcome mighty St Bernadette's for Te rā nui ki waho (The big day out)!
