Last weekend a team of twenty students and four staff went to compete for the annual Catholic Schools Bishops Shield at St Peter's College in Gore.
The following students represented Kavanagh College: Senior Drama - Elliot Blyth, Emily Kerr-Bell, Laura Whelan, Sam Meikle and Josh Chisholm. Senior Debating - Ollie Meikle, Anna Roberts and Blake Chalmers. Impromptu Speech - Daniel McClymont, Junior Debating- Luca Holloway, Cody Paulsen, Quinn Wilson. Junior Drama - Kate Kelly, Lexie Tomlinson, Sarah Al-Balushi, Enrique Garcia and Stella Caulton. Junior Scripture- Molly Colbert. Senior Scripture - Andrew Wilson. Senior Prepared Speech - Elizabeth Audas.
Here is the summary of how the weekend went
Molly did achieve 2nd in the Junior Scripture.
We did enjoy our company and that of the other schools.
We did enjoy all staying together and not billeting.
We did have a great time.
We did feel proud of all our performances.
We did achieve third place in a number of events.
We did make the top four schools.
We did only miss getting first or second in most events by only a couple of points.
We did like Ollie's new moustache.
The competition was very even, unfortunately, the final result did not quite reflect this, despite having indigenous Goron's with us on our team. We cannot thank Sarah Henderson, Ross MacKinnon, Katrina Kerr-Bell and Dr Lanner enough for supporting us.
