Cake Decorating Masterclass

Oliver Hill in Year 12 recently had the opportunity to attend a Cake Decorating Masterclass at Otago Polytechnic. Claire Pennell of Cakes of Wanaka hosted the cake designing/decorating class and demonstrated the decoration of a single-layered naked cake. Each teacher and student in attendance decorated a cake supplied by the Otago Polytechnic to take home. Claire primarily works in the space of commissioned bespoke cakes – including being the designer of Richie McCaw and Gemma Flynn’s wedding cake. Oliver made an amazing job of decorating his cake and attached is a photo of the completed cake that he took home.
