Mt Aspiring Interchange

After a long break due to covid restrictions, our annual interchange with Mt Aspiring College got back underway on Thursday.
Mt Aspiring were met by a fantastic Trinity Catholic College welcome lead by our Kapa Haka group. This set the tone beautifully as both schools shared kai together and headed into the miniball fixtures. The girls were fantastic and full of energy against a very strong Mt Aspiring team who used very clear height to their advantage. In the boys match, a committed Trinity team came from 20 points down to only miss out by 5 points.
Day two saw our students competing in volleyball, netball, hockey, rugby and football.
Both venues for volleyball and netball were packed and the atmosphere was electric. The netballers were tested in all areas and can be very proud of the way they stuck to task and played exceptionally well. Our Volleyballers were dominant as they kicked us off with two good wins to start the day.
The 7&8 rugby team performed admirably against a strong and fast running Mt Aspiring team. We were right in the contest for big portions of the game and came back to score some very good late tries.
At the turf, the hockey team scored a couple of cracking goals and worked hard on defence during a fast and physical match.
Our footballers were the last team of the day to play and in a very tightly fought match they produced some terrific passing and nicely finished goals.
Overall the players can be very proud of their efforts against a very strong Mt Aspiring touring squad. The positive, never give up attitude was clear to everyone watching and I know every individual would have taken a huge amount out of this experience. Well done to you all.
We are looking forward to our return trip next year.
A big thanks to all the parents that supported our teams on the day.
