Do you enjoy nature and the outdoors?

Town Belt Kaitiaki (TBK) is a student-led education programme for Dunedin schools and early childhood centres. The purpose of the programme is to help young people grow to value and understand the significance of the Town Belt and its mauri (life force), and learn how to sustain and care for our natural environment as kaitiaki (guardians). Empowering them to make a difference in their community right now, as part of their school curriculum.

Town Belt Kaitiaki is now seeking up to four student representatives from Trinity Catholic College for the TBK Student Leadership Team.

The Student Leadership Team consists of one to four student representatives from each of the programme's 12 participating schools (years 6 to 13). Together they set the vision and goals for what they want schools to achieve in the Town Belt. Some student leaders enjoy getting experience in leadership, governance and planning alongside community experts, while others value being role models with activities such as planting, trapping, and building bug motels.

Commitment

● Attend at introductory Hui at the beginning of the year (March 2nd and 3rd at Sinclair Wetlands), followed by one meeting per month.

● Transport must be provided by parent/caregiver unless otherwise arranged with the Coordinator.

● Leaders are expected to contribute and participate at the key events they collectively plan and organise throughout the year (approximately 1-2 events per term).
