The Assumption of Mary

On our special Trinity Day this year, we also celebrate the Assumption of Mary
The Catholic Church assigns one date out of the year for each canonized saint — known as the saint’s feast day. The saints are remembered on their individual feast days with special mention, prayers, and possibly a scripture reading. The 15th of August (today!) is the feast of the Assumption of Mary. Mary is the Patron Saint of Aotearoa, New Zealand.
We pronounce, declare, and define it to be a divinely revealed dogma: that the Immaculate Mother of God, the ever-Virgin Mary, having completed the course of her earthly life, was assumed body and soul into heavenly glory.
— Pope Pius XII, 1950
