Aileen Tyler - A strong supporter of Kavanagh College and a patron of Netball at our school for many years.

Reprinted with kind permission from Dunedin Netball;

It is with sadness we announce the passing of Aileen Tyler. Aileen played netball for St Philomena's, St Patrick's, Otago and South Island from 1946 to 1957. She was the captain of the team in 1957. She coached many teams including the 1961 Otago team who were joint winners of the NZ Champs that year. She managed and selected for both Otago and Otago Country teams. Aileen was on the Otago Management Committee, NZ Tournament Committee in Dunedin, Draw Committee and was Records Convenor for a number of years. She was also patron of Kavanagh College Netball for 5 years.

Aileen's sister, Violette Turnbull, taught commerce at Kavanagh College for many years up until the late 1990's, and Aileen was a very strong supporter of netball at our school. She is well remembered for spending many years watching and encouraging Kavanagh teams from the sidelines.

We extend our sincere sympathy to Aileen's family and friends at this time.
