Last Wednesday 8th March, our Year 12 Physical Education class set out for our mountain biking trip in Naseby.
We were fortunate to strike a beautiful day and managed to get out for two adventurous rides on the first day. This was a great opportunity for everyone to explore the mountain biking forest and apply some of the risk management strategies that we have been looking at in class over the past few weeks.
On Thursday we got to experience some mud and rain in the first ride which was a good test of some of the strategies that we applied. Students also tested out the assessment track on Thursday and managed to record some great practice times on the trail. On Thursday evening, students took part in a MasterChef style competition. The four riding groups attempted to make the most tasty and well presented nachos for the judges (teachers/parents). There were some great dishes however Abby Simpson, Misha Peyroux, Reihana Kiri and Maka Laufiso topped the scoreboard with their dish.
On Friday morning, after a group warm-up led by Mr Harris, all students attempted the assessment trail. The class did an exceptional job and really pushed themselves to their limits. There were lots of impressive times with James Black recording the fastest lap in just 7 minutes and 44 seconds.
A massive thank you to Andrew Sherriff who gave up his time to join us for the three days and was a massive asset both on and off the trails!
