Mainlands Volleyball Championships

Over the last week/weekend the Senior A Girls Volleyball team were in Christchurch for the Mainlands Volleyball Champions 2021.
Prior to this we had seeding games to determine which grade we would get into. With some tough losses we managed to get into Division 3 for our trip away.
We stayed at the Jailhouse, which is a backpackers in Addington, Christchurch. We travelled up on Thursday 25th so we could get enough rest for our early 8:30am game on Friday morning.
On Friday we had a total of four games, we managed to win every game. This meant we were placed at the top of our pool with a 8-1 set ratio. However the games on Saturday were a step up from the day before, therefore we lost two games and won one.
Due to games being pushed back because of the time taken to complete the rounds, our 3:15pm game against Craighead started at 7.00pm and was finished by around 9:30pm. We went to five sets and managed to take a win. On Sunday we had two games. Our first game was to play for 5th and 6th position. We lost this game so then played for 7th and 8th. Our final placing was 7th out of 18 teams in our grade.
In conclusion it was a great tournament, with highs and lows, and we all enjoyed our time in Christchurch. It wouldn’t have been possible without our great coaches (Kerry and Pete), players and supporters. Thank you to Mrs de Graaf for joining us.
