21st November: The Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary
On this Feast, the Presentation of Mary in the Temple by Mary's parents, Joachim and Anne. The Presentation of Mary reminds us that we can go on a pilgrimage of thanksgiving, to give thanks to God for a blessing received. In their gratitude, Joachim and Anne pledged to dedicate Mary to God and give her to His service in the temple. Joachim and Anne are the grandparents of Jesus. Jesus was also presented in the Temple.
This day is also the Feast Day for St Peter Chanel School in Green Island. It is a school that has Nano Nagle, the founder of the Presentation Sisters. The Nano Nagle Charitable Trust (NNCT) was established in New Zealand by the Presentation Sisters and Friends of Nano in 2009 to support children unable to attend a Catholic School because of financial hardship.
