Where would a musical be without music?
The show band will provide live music throughout The Addams Family and is made up of some excellent school musicians, a teacher, two former students, and a couple of other adults who have kindly offered to play as well. The show band has been practising by themselves on Saturday evenings, but will join with the cast in Term 2.
The music in this show was composed by Andrew Lippa and is an interesting and entertaining mixture of styles. The songs were written to match each character’s personality - for example, Gomez Addams has a score that has a Flamenco-style Spanish influence and the songs connected with Uncle Fester have a vaudeville feel to them, while Wednesday’s songs are much more contemporary. The music is energetic, toe-tapping, and catchy and no doubt there will be many audience members who leave the show with the opening bars playing in their heads for some time afterwards.
The Addams Family performances will take place 23-26 May 2023. Keep an eye out next term for information about when tickets go on sale.
