Mobile Phone Use

We have a clear mobile phone procedure. A phone is not to be used as a device for learning.

Year 7 – mobile phones will be taken off them for the day by Ako Teacher. This will happen in the first period that the Ako teacher has them and will be returned at the end of the day.

Year 8 and 9 – phones are away and not in sight (except for medical purposes). They will be allowed out for use only if asked by the teacher

Interval and Lunch - Devices are not to be used at interval and lunch except Wednesday lunch. This is Device Day.

Procedure - If the phone is out and is taken by the teacher, the phone would need to be collected by the student from the office at the end of the day. The 2nd time the phone is confiscated, it would need to be collected from the office by the parents/caregivers.

We have made these decisions to improve student learning opportunities. In special circumstances the phone can be available to the student.
