Winter Tournament Week a success for Kavanagh College

During Week 7, (September 3-7), Kavanagh College had six teams involved in tournament week throughout the South Island.
The Boys First XI had the furthermost to travel when they headed off to Nelson to compete in the Jim Wishart Trophy. The team finished 9th and apart from a poor first day, won four games out of six. Thanks go to Kevin MacKenzie and Ian Adamson for all their work on the trip.
The Girls First XI Football played in Dunedin and finished 15th. Thanks to Iris Bugarski and Richard Kerr-Bell for their guidance of the team throughout the week.
The College also sent a mixed hockey team to Oamaru and they finished 5th. This team was definitely a top 4 side but lost a crucial game to Wakatipu High School. My thanks to coach Rauin Moriarty, Ian Paulin, and Mike Campbell for all their work throughout the season.
We also sent two basketball teams away, with the senior girls winning in Westport which was awesome and they now look forward to nationals in Palmerston North. The basketball boys finished 7th in Ashburton. Thanks must go to Gerard Mullin, Liz Cameron, Iris Bugarski, Nat Visger and Mike Waterworth for all their help throughout the season.
