Tēnā tātou e te whānau whānui
Next Thursday 15th of June, Te Whetū Tīrama members will attend Te Whakataetae o ngā Manu Kōrero Ōtākou/ Murihiku (Ngā Manu Kōrero regional speech competition). We will support our speaker Patrick Cotter who is speaking in the Korimako/ Senior English section. It is a great opportunity for our rangatahi to hear inspiring and provocative speeches in te reo Māori and English. Whānau are also welcome to attend. It will be held at the Dunedin Town Hall, the pōwhiri begins at 8.30am. The day will conclude around 5.30pm.
Our girls have started learning a poi to accompany a matariki waiata. The goal is to perform this at the Matariki night market in week one of Term Three. Nei te mihi ki a Paola Hapeta i tō whakapau kaha kia waihanga i ngā poi nei. Tēnā kōrua hoki ki a Lily rāua ko Jade (Thank you to Paola Hapeta who has made our beautiful poi, and to Lily and Jade our poi tutors).
