Otago Primary School Swimming Sports

The Otago Primary School Swimming Championships were held at Moana Pool on Sunday 6th April. Trinity had 5 very keen and excited swimmers this year braving it out against hundreds from across Otago. Competition was fairly tough, but all 5 did extremely well in their respective age group categories, with lots of 'Personal Bests' achieved by all 5 swimmers.
Highlights were:
Olive Johannessen placing 8th in the 11yr Girls 50m Breaststroke with a PB of 49.80sec
Sullivan Haig placing 5th in the 11yr boys 50m Breaststroke with a PB of 53.70sec
Londen Louw-Young placing 3rd in the 12yr and older girls 50m Freestyle with a PB of 31.10sec, placing 4th in the 12yr and older girls 50m Breaststroke with a PB of 41.38sec
Neve Elliotte and Jake Lemon also achieved PBs in both Freestyle and Backstroke
Trinity also placed 9th in the 4 x 50m Freestyle Relay. A massive achievement given they were a mixed age team, up against older and stronger swimmers.
They then placed 11th in the 4xMedley Relay. A valiant effort after a very long day in the pool.
Special thanks to Mr Louw-Young, who was our Parent in Charge for the day, who made a tremendous effort, organising warm-ups, ensuring all kids were on time for races, and keeping sugar levels up with a supply of treats!
