All three of our teams are now underway for the season.
The First XV Rugby team got their season off to a great start with a nail-biting 20-17 win over Kings 2nd XV up at Bishopscourt. Try scorers were Mark Gorman (our new student from Ireland), Soni (who scored a great try barging over from 10 metres out) and Sefo, who also had a very good game. Caleb Kelekolio kicked a penalty and a conversion. Taylor Baughan was also a standout at lineout time and around the track. Player of the day went to Jake Bardwell.
Kavanagh College took on Dunstan High School on May 12 in Alexandra. Unfortunately, the boys were not at their best and went down 46-5. However, this is an opportunity to learn from, and go into, this weeks game against Taieri stronger! The player of the match was Luka Casey.
The Girls 7s team had two good wins this week and continue to be a force in women's rugby.
The Under 15 rugby team started their season with a win and loss. A good win over Kings and a loss to Taieri. All in all, a good encouraging start to the season.
They had a great high scoring win over an OBHS team last Saturday, 12th May. This continues their great start to the season.
