Computer Usage: Important email to Caregivers

By Rachel Mortimer | Posted: Tuesday June 25, 2024

Students are required to install some software for Term 3 as part of our use of Linewize, and an important email has been emailed to caregivers regarding this. Please check your inboxes!

An email was sent on Wednesday 26 June to explain the changes and provide information for you to support your child. We are aware that sometimes these emails appear in your spam or junk folders so we encourage you to check this out.

The information shares the changes being made to the way and the timeframe that students computer usage is filtered and monitored. Essentially, we will now only monitor during school hours and students will not be able to access our internet without installing the software outlined. Students mobile phones will not be able to access our internet at all but as they are not supposed to be on them during the school day, this should not be an issue.

Please note that as per our annual communication, we have had systems in place to monitor and filter student usage when logged into their school account for approx four years. This was on a 24 hour basis if the student was logged into their school account, but only for the purpose of a pastoral lens. These changes will mean there is a reduction in monitoring and filtering to school hours only.

Please read the email and if you have any questions, please contact Rachel Mortimer or Nathan Sortehaug at school.
